Getting There and Getting Around

Flying in and out of Nice-Côte d'Azur Airport can be quite an experience with amazing views
of the Alps and Mediterranean. Air France, British Airways, SAS, Virgin Express, BMI Baby,
Lufthansa, Delta, KLM, Qantas, and Alitalia all have direct flights to Nice. There are three
train stations in Nice, but the main terminal is Nice Ville. Trains travel in two directions from
Nice Ville: north, through Marseilles and up to Paris, or southeast, along the coast, past
Monaco and to Rome. The Mediterranean is the second-most popular cruise destination, after
the Caribbean. Ships call at the Nice-Villefrache port and depart to destinations throughout
the Mediterranean.

Getting around in the city is quite easy. There is plenty of parking if you are planning to rent
a car. Taxis are typically expensive, but the SunBus, the local bus system, provides numerous
routes throughout the city. You can pick up a timetable at the tourism office on the
Promenade des Anglais or at the bus station in the Place Massena. Bicycles are welcomed in
Nice's streets and easy to rent. Walking trips in Nice can seem longer than they actually are
due to the expanse of the city and the steep hills, so plan your days accordingly. You may
want to do your shopping in Vieux Nice one day and save the Cimiez parks and museums for
another.
